Someone received a postcard for Jason X in their copy of Trick 'r Treat.

Guess that probably means we can assume Arrow is also doing Jason Goes to Hell and, maybe, Freddy vs Jason.

I saw Jason X for the first time about a year ago and enjoyed it. I was struck by it’s self awareness and jokes about its film series’ cliches and tropes, and quite enjoyed it’s very Y2K aesthetics. Plus a very nice cameo by David Cronenberg.

I also quite enjoyed Jason X especially Shout Factory's fresh scan of the film which was a serious upgrade over the drab, misleadingly grey and hazy German blu. It's a good looking film, the camera seldom stops moving and there is an inventive use of colour. A low tech, high concept and hugely diverting film.

Recall Jason X had some novelty in the depiction of Jason and an extra layer with the self aware hologram/dream sequence.

Definitely would be something if Arrow are able to bring 4k editions of the late Jason films (following their apparently excellent upgrade of F:13 2009, a favourite of mine), although I still have yet to encounter one person who has enjoyed Jason Goes to Hell. Freddy vs Jason has plenty going for it, a self aware film that doesn't feel nauseatingly superior or ironic and that its old blu ray is very outdated and (as was the case with F13 2009) badly in need of an upgrade.

I enjoyed Jason Goes to Hell. Watching it as part of a F13 marathon, it was just the right amount of relief from the monotony of the last few entries, especially after the slog that is Jason Takes Manhattan. On its own, I like its go-for-broke weirdness with the soul transference idea, and there is a fun throwback to the more traditional Jason stuff with the brief camping scene, which has one of the series’ most gnarly kills (only in the unrated version).

I love the trio of Manhattan/Goes to Hell (what a fantastic opening scene)/Jason X

The director of Jason Goes to Hell confirmed on Twitter that he recently supervised a 4K restoration of the uncut version alongside the DoP. He doesn't mention who is releasing it but it wouldn't be surprising to see if it was for a future Arrow release.

Directed by Jim Isaac, who did the special effects on eXistenZ, which might explain how he was able to get Cronenberg! There is also a great cameo scene with Robert A. Silverman, who had lots of small but impactful roles in Cronenberg films such as D'Arcy Nader, trapped in a dialogue loop in eXistenZ, introducing the Mugwump in the bar in Naked Lunch, in The Brood, and perhaps most significantly the artist in Scanners. In Jason X he's the guy from the space station communicating on the videoscreen that the out of control spaceship ends up barrelling straight through!

I mostly think of Jason X as part of that late 90s/early 2000s trend of special effects technicians being given the chances to direct films (the other big one that comes to mind is James Bruno, James Cameron's special effects technician helming Virus), which inevitably results in 'effects-over-story' productions. But on those terms it works fine, and since the Friday the 13th films are all about the effects anyway, it is the perfect series for that kind of director to have handled.

Plus of course its got the best scene in the entire franchise in it with the holodeck scene, that seems to be alluding to the heavily MPAA edited sleeping bag kill from Part VII! (The fact that I could also have chosen the 'magnetic nipples' scene, or the "This sucks on so many levels!" or "He's screwed!" one liners too suggests that the film's tongue is definitely in its cheek!)
